Hello everyone! My name is Megan, and I blog at Diary of this Girl. I work for a finance company by day and spend my free time reading, writing, shopping (!) and creating content for my blog and social media platforms. I have been blogging for just under six years! It is a wonderful creative outlet – I have met a number of local Seattle bloggers while exploring my passions for writing and all things fashion-related.
I greatly enjoy putting together outfits, sharing style tips, and trying new trends while also adhering to my personal budget – as my fellow shopaholics know, this can be a seemingly difficult task!
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and while I love the variety of colorful seasons we have, summer remains my favorite! There is something about the sunshine that never fails to put a smile on my face. Summer fashion is fun, too! When the sun finally makes her appearance in Seattle (typically mid to late-June), I am eager to put away my pants, sweaters and jackets; say hello to floral prints, bright colors and warm-weather attire!
Skirts are one of my favorite summer pieces! They can be incredibly versatile – a skirt can easily be worn to the office, out to brunch, or for a more formal event, depending on what it is paired with. While trying to stay within my budget, finding skirts and other clothing items that can adapt to my lifestyle needs (and be styled for a variety of occasions) is important.
This blue pleated skirt is no exception. I love the midi length and high waistline. Today, I paired the skirt with an adorable, butterfly print blouse. A t-shirt or blouse can be tucked into the skirt or worn loosely. I experimented with both in these photos.
With a blouse and ankle boots, the skirt is perfect for a day in the office, an engagement or bridal shower (I have a few of those on my calendar this summer!), or out to dinner. Dress the skirt down by tucking in a graphic t-shirt, or grab your favorite cropped top and converse for a more casual, edgy vibe.
Are you a fan of the pleated skirt trend? How do you prefer to style skirts and other summer items?
A special thank you to the wonderful ladies at Endless Knot for allowing me to guest post on their blog (and wear this adorable pleated skirt!). I hope to see you again soon!
